R44 AIRBORNE LAW ENFORCEMENT: The R44 Police Helicopter is the first affordable, high-performance, turnkey aerial platform designed and equipped specifically for law enforcement agencies.

At a fraction of turbine costs, the R44 Police Helicopter is designed, manufactured, and tested by Robinson as a complete FAA-approved police helicopter.

The R44 Police Helicopter is optimized for law enforcement activities including pursuit, patrol, and surveillance, thereby enhancing ground officer and citizen safety. Studies of law enforcement air support have proven a helicopter is equivalent to five or more ground units in terms of the ability to search an area effectively. As a highly visible law enforcement tool, the R44 serves as a constant deterrent to criminals.

FACTORY-INSTALLED NOSE GIMBAL: The FLIR Systems Mark II infrared sensor (HgCdTe Sensor, 8-12 microns) with 7X zoom color TV camera system is standard equipment in the R44 Police Helicopter. The nose gimbal mount provides 360-degree rotation and a wide field of vision. The lightweight nine-inch diameter rugged, environmentally sealed gimbal, coupled with a streamlined installation, minimizes drag and reduces fuel consumption.

FOLD-DOWN MONITOR: A fold-down video monitor with a ten-inch sunlight-readable color LCD screen comes standard. The observer can quickly raise or lower the monitor to increase outside visibility when the camera system is not in use. The monitor mount also accommodates the King KFM 985 dual band transceiver. Optional FM police radios and control heads are also available.

SEARCHLIGHT: The Spectrolab SX-5 provides 15-20 million candlepower using a 500-watt xenon lamp. Installation of the searchlight below the right rear seat allows steep left banking turns without the left skid interfering with the light beam. The high-intensity focusable beam may be controlled by the observer using a hand controller, or as an option, the light can be slaved to the nose gimbal.
